Month 2 - Platinum #19

Welcome back everyone to my weekly blog! Or try to write up at least once a week! Nothing big this week other than my platinum on Dead Space 2! Yes, I have done it finally after a month of playing the game and roughly 30 hours of the game I have finished! In this episode I will be talking about some strategies for those trying to accomplish Dead Space 2. I will also be talking about the new games I have acquired, which order I plan to play them, as well as the ones I am playing now. Lets start of this wonderful and magical bonanza with the Dead Space 2 Platinum!

First I will discuss my plan of attack, which was a little bit longer method to getting the platinum, but a lot more easy. Okay so as many people know I have praised this game as well as the first Dead Space, so when I got this game I knew Dead Space 1 had a great story. My expectations were that Dead Space 2 wouldn't be far behind it, so I wanted to enjoy the game. Therefore I played it on the Normal difficulty setting. If you wanted to complete the game in less playthroughs I would suggest playing Zealot difficulty first, and you have to make sure you do multiple saves at distant parts in the game. This is because the spawn points are close together and if you save right before a hard part that has no way for you to purchase ammo or health you pretty much become screwed.

After I beat it on normal I played through it on Hard Core mode. At first this could seem a bit daunting when reading the setting, but it's all a mind fuck just like this game, and that's what I love about it. Literally if you can beat the game on normal you should have no problem going through this with 3 saves. It literally is the same difficulty as normal just with 3 saves. Make sure your saves are in spots you feel comfortable in (usually with bench/shop at your disposal). If you watched my videos than most of you definitely know where my save points were, which was beginning of seven (before the elevator ride with all the tripods) beginning of 12 (before the drill ride), and 13 (Before the eye Surgery). If you die when attempting Hard Core I suggest you just take a 5 min break from it, as the stress/rage could get you to die again earlier because your just trying to rush through it. If you don't want to play anymore but don't feel comfortable saving at your spot then just pause the game and do something else until your ready to continue. Unfortunately you can't play any other games on your system while doing this.

After I beat Hard Core I moved on to Zealot (at this point the only trophies I needed were 2500 dismemberment and beat on Zealot difficulty). Due to beat the game on Hard Core my New Game+ was rewarded with all my upgrades and the Hand Cannon. An Uber overpowered hand gun in the shape of a foam finger that simply only uses the ammo of your words "Bang" and "Pew" both one shot kills. Due to not having normal ammo the gun doesn't need to reload, so you can simply spam the button as much as you want! Having this gun literally cut my playing time in half. It took me 9-10 hours to beat the other playthroughs, but with the hand cannon it took me 5 hours and a few minutes.

If you have any other trophies you need to work on such as killing trophies or the such I suggest you work on them after this point. You have so much money saved up to buy enough Power Nodes to get your fully ranked up 3 weapons, and you can also afford all the ammo + weapons + upgrades to make it easier on getting the kill trophies.

Tips when playing Dead Space:
- Conserve your ammo by using Kenisis Impale or Stais the last guy and stomp him.
- Conserving ammo is important, but not as important as living. use impale when safe.
- I purchased ammo/health when needed whatever was left went to power nodes. I always made sure to keep about 25000 credits available.
- Keep 1 power Node available at all time for Power Node Doors.
- The wall and corners are your friends. The less places then can attack the less your surprised.
- The Detonator is your friend, especially on the raptors, wall huggers, and covering your tracks.
- use explosive/stasis containers when found saves ammo and/or stasis.
- Contact beam with alt fire maxed out can save your life.
- Force gun is super powerful, and is AoE causing multiple damage per bullet.
- Plasma cutter take off limbs in a few shots.
- Javelin can impale and it's alt fire can destroy anything around it.

After beat Dead Space 2 I moved onto another sequal that I promised I would once I platinumed Dead Space 2, and that game is Mass Effect 2. This game is definitely an attention grabber and doesn't let go. I've been playing it for half a week now and already have 10 hours on my save. Great game! While playing this game I've realized why I can't play Demon's Souls consistently, and it's because Demon's Souls has no sense of direction. Even the sandbox games I play at least put mission markers on your maps, and are available when you can do them. With Demon's Souls it seems like a guessing game of where you have to go and what you have to do, but that's enough about Demon's Souls.

I've seen some problems with Mass Effect 2 graphical wise a problem with it gameplay wise, but really nothing game shattering. I seriously can't wait to beat this so I can give my review on it. I'm sure I have so much to learn, but what I have left in the game mission wise is I'm about 1/3 through the game. On top of Mass Effect 2 there is another game I am trying to platinum, and for a while now. Most of you know I've been working Dead Space Extraction, and at this point I am hating rail shooters so much I have to take baby steps into completing this platinum. Literally I've been working on 1 mission at a time, getting a trophy here and there. I have 47/50 stars on all the levels, so I need 3 more stars for a trophy. I still need to collect everything in chapter 8 & 9. I also need to do the challenges, which from what I hear are the hardest part about this Platinum. Then I have to beat the game on impossible... *sigh* seems so far away and I'm just sick of it. Rail Shooters are not my kind of game I guess. Once I finish these 2 I do have a few new games I picked up, and I believe one if not both were on my anticipated games at the beginning of this blog in the "backlog" chapter.

Those 2 games are Killzone 3 and Bulletstorm! From what I hear Killzone 3 Platinum was waaaaayyyyyy easier to get then Killzone 2, which is a breath of fresh air. I hate multiplayer trophies, I don't think they should exist unless it's like intro stuff. Like making you try out every class there is or capping basses/killing enemies. On top of that I hear Bulletstorm is a looooooonnnnngggg Platinum to get, which is interesting because FPS lately have been known for there short platinums. I do plan on picking up Killzone 3 before Bulletstorm and not because of the trophy length, but because I refuse to play Multiplayer before Single player has been beaten. Hopefully between these 2 games and Infamous 2 I can get some of my old backlog finished. I'm thing Batman: Arkham Asylum might be taken out first, due to it's sequal coming up later this year. I also still have Darksiders, Bayonetta, AC:Brotherhood (online trophies... which I hate), Prince of Persia, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Final Fantasy XIII, and Battlefield: BC2 (again online trophies >.<)

Last month I briefly described the amount of trophies I need to get each month for this to be possible, so you guys don't have to go looking for it I said it was 85 a month. This month I got 94, so making up that number that was drastically short last month was nice. I also got 1 platinum to stay on track per month, but it was a close call it being on my last week. I also need to start working on getting 2 platinums in one month here shortly. All the games that I've been playing are crazy long though, and it's making this goal seem harder. Maybe later on in the year I'll be tackling more shorter platinum games... hopefully anyways.

So that concludes this weeks Episode I'm glad you all came to read my blog! Please join and feel free to write some comments I would love to answer fans, follower, and friends questions. Also any tips or ideas for my blog are greatly welcome! Again thanks for tuning in I'll leave you guys with my trophy update and hope you join in next week!
