After a couple busy weeks I have jumped back into the gaming chair to put in some hard hours. This week I put lots of hours into MvC3, and I think I've played enough to final give it my review this week. That also might be the case because I have nothing to talk about this week, but I wouldn't rush this just for that reason. I also knocked out a few trophies on DS: Extraction, so first we will start off with how much I've accomplished in Extraction (which doesn't happen to be a lot).
On Extraction I've been taking my time with, mainly due to not liking rail shooters, but most of you know all this. This week I finished getting all the stars and logs, weapons, and upgrades for the required levels. Now I must go through the other levels to collect all the upgrades. I'm also thinking about just picking them up through my next playthrough when I go through it on impossible, and that's because I can't remember which levels I need to go through to find the missing upgrades. If I keep on this same speed and finish impossible by the end of the week I'm hoping to finish this before the month.
With MvC3 being my game to keep me sane while playing Extraction. If I don't platinum Extraction this month then MvC3 is my fallback plan, which I'm half way through them. I finished the hardest trophies first which was completing 320 mission in the mission mode. Now I've been playing through the arcade mode, there are a few choose this team and win a match with them trophies that I'm missing. I've completed beating arcade on the hardest difficulty, and right now I'm just going through it with every character and picking up a few more trophies along the way.
Now for my review on MvC3, and again I must state this right now... I haven't officially play MvC2 yet.
Review:
Sound: It's a fighting game... if your playing this for sounds then there is something wrong with you. I've completed the 320 mission trophy, and I got sick of the sound. It doesn't bother me one bit because I don't play the game for the sound. They didn't give much variety to the sound each number combo is given a phrase... "Wonderful", "good!", "Viewtiful". You hear it once you'll hear it again next time.
Gameplay: If your looking for something that will captivate you and pull you in for all hours of the night? Look no further! This game will make you feel like the pros when playing. You will be pulling of insane long string combos, and the game is real easy to pick up and play. Of course as always practice does make you a better player allowing you to string longer combos together and pulling off even more fancy stuff for your opponent to lose too. Also the more time you put the more you learn about the game, which makes the game always fun to pick up.
Playability: You have simple button map out especially when playing on a arcade stick. If you don't like the layout you can customize to any way you want, which makes it even more simplistic to learn. I used to play on the DS3, but never used it when playing MvC3 though. I'm assuming it helps a lot more.
Story: Again your playing a fighting game... your not gonna find a compelling heart felt story in this game. I don't even think the story makes sense in this game.
Online: I have yet to take full advantage of this aspect of the game. I have played online with friends on my PSN list, but from what I hear things are not good when it comes to the mathcup features. I hear that it takes a long time to find matches and then when you do find matches 9 out of 10 times they are spammers. From when I play with my friends the lobby talk is great very clear, matches are fast to get started. The only problem I have with it is when you have multiple people in the lobby then you can't watch the match if your not in the matchup (obviously).
Replayability: Between the mission, online play, and people on your friends list I think this game will last a long time. From what I hear it may not be longer then MvC2, but from what I see a lot of people will be playing this for a long time.
That is it for this week. Thanks for joining me, and hope you all enjoyed my MvC3 review. More updates to come next week, and still have 2 weeks left in the month definitely need get pull a platinum out of something. That's one thing I'm stressing over right now. I really wish I could just bite the nail and finish Extraction. Anyways I hope to catch you all next week!
